EU Students
EU students planning to stay beyond three months should register with the local population registry (Anagrafe Comunale) at the municipal administration where they reside.

Non-EU Students
Non-EU students arriving in Italy for the first time with a study visa have 8 working days from their entry into the country to apply for a residence permit with the Italian Police. Only enrolled students can apply for a residence permit for study purpose.
